At the turn of the last decade the Spartans were soaring under Mark Dantonio, what should their path be with the next coaching hire?
Mel Tucker was fired from Michigan State a few weeks ago.
They did it before the conclusion of an investigation into his relationship with university vendor and sexual assault advocate and fired him with “cause” which could potentially let them off the hook for his sizable contract.
That’s going to be litigated and chances are the Spartans will settle for a smaller sum to avoid discovery or a public airing of dirty laundry. Tucker is owed a fortune, he’ll likely receive some chunk of it, and Michigan State will move on thanks to a decent donor base and the constant incoming riches of the Big 10 Network rights deal.
But what comes next for Michigan State football? Can they match the heights of the Mark Dantonio era? Should they aim higher? Lower?
