The Week 8 Watch
A primetime Big 12 bout, several undefeateds are challenged, and Alabama looks to rebound off the Pirate's plank.
Last weekend was the end of several undefeated runs in college football. This happens every year and the week to week top 25 rankings (or any others, really) are generally a waste of time. You’re rewarded for the record in the current standings rather than a demonstration of what you’re capable of during a full season.
Ultimately record is what matters most, but it’s just not over until it’s over.
This week the following undefeated teams who are ranked in the top 25 will play.
Ohio State, Tennessee, Syracuse, Clemson, Ole Miss, UCLA, and TCU.
Of those squads, Syracuse and Clemson face each other, Ole Miss faces LSU, ULCA faces Oregon, and TCU faces K-State. How man of the seven undefeated teams listed above will remain undefeated after Saturday? The answer can’t be more than six and I bet it’ll be less than.
Some of the more interesting contests mentioned above to me are Ole Miss’ trip to Baton Rouge, Syracuse’s trip to Clemson, UCLA’s bout with Oregon, and TCU’s hosting of Kansas State. Those are the three undefeated schools who’s current resume seem shakiest in terms of signaling big runs. In fact TCU is the only one of those four teams who’s favored to win.
Then there’s a couple of other interesting games to talk about this week, such as the Pirate’s Bulldogs against angry Alabama and Texas at Oklahoma State.
