The Week 12 watch
The ACC and Big 12 title races have a big weekend, Georgia is doing something special on offense, and the Oregon State Beavers are about to have some chances to mess up the playoff race.
Big news the other day had Michigan backing down on the Jim Harbaugh suspension under a few parameters which make it likely that this 3-game suspension is more or less the end of the drama.
This is leading toward a huge clash in “the game” in which Michigan faces Ohio State without Jim Harbaugh and the pressure on Ryan Day will be intense. Imagine that game now, in Ann Arbor in front of the closest thing to an SEC crowd you’ll ever get in that building, God knows what the weather will be but probably cold, both teams are probably undefeated and playing for both a Big 10 AND National Championship.
If Michigan loses they’ll be driven to do God knows what for revenge. If Ohio State drops it, Ryan Day may never recover his reputation.
It’s really going to be something. We’ll break it down in a big way beforehand after I do some good homework on it. I haven’t have much cause to watch either team as they’ve coasted through weak schedules. Michigan appears to have some pass game issues in terms of protection while Ohio State is still cultivating a “questionable on toughness” identity. My theory that being anointed by the Big 10 in the COVID year turned them into a front-running, finesse program gained steam when they (allegedly) tried to take down Michigan with a PR assault and ran a jet sweep on 4th-and-short against Notre Dame.
We’ll get to all that in due time, for now here’s what we’re looking at in Week 12.
