I treat the NFL much like I do the NBA. I keep tabs on them in the regular season, maintain a sense of what’s going on, but I don’t watch with any real consistency until the playoffs.
This year I had a fantasy football team so I paid a little more attention. Enough to see the beginnings of vindication over my long-running Jalen Hurts skepticism, nearly total evisceration of my initial Dan Campbell skepticism, and an incomplete but unpromising grade on my CJ Stroud skepticism.
Now we’re at the conference championship level and things look awfully familiar. San Francisco and Kansas City are mainstays who’ve already met in the Super Bowl once while Baltimore and Detroit have hovered around for a while and are both quarterbacked by playoff veterans Lamar Jackson and Jared Goff. Who’s going to advance to the next round? I have a few thoughts, although I’m less practiced at NFL analysis than college.
