Week 1 of college football was certainly itself.
The promising Utah Utes, whom I noted might have a chance to get out of the Pac-12 and be a playoff participant, couldn’t get it done in the swamp against Billy Napier’s Florida Gators. The Oregon Ducks, remarkably ranked 11th in the country despite losing their head coach and several top players, were a chew toy for the defending National Champions.
Notre Dame was unable to take down Ohio State on the road, even with Jaxson Smith-Njigba hurting his hamstring during the game and getting pulled.
Really a lot of familiar outcomes.
Here were a few things which did stand out amidst the inexorable domination of the recent powers. Particularly regarding the identities and shape of the obvious contenders, Ohio State and Georgia who both win big openers.
