Is Nebraska real?

Matt Rhule's Cornhuskers have improved again, is this a nationally competitive team already?

Colorado football at this point is simply a tragedy. If you put Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter on half of the other rosters in the Big 12, you'd have a nearly automatic league favorite. However, head coach Deion Sanders hasn’t built a top half Big 12 roster, he built a “get rich quick/pyramid scheme” roster and has a program that subjugates the university to the individual.

You cannot win the war game if the first priority is to exalt the individual warrior.

But there’s a more interesting question to me than exactly how awful Colorado football is under Sanders. Namely, exactly how good are their conquerors the Nebraska Cornhuskers?

Nebraska didn’t really have any issues with them. They got up 28-0 by the half and coasted for the rest of the game. The Huskers are 2-0 on the season with one more non-conference matchup ahead before they take on a relatively difficult Big 10 conference slate.

Here’s their conference draw:

Illinois, at Purdue, Rutgers, at Indiana, at Ohio State, UCLA, at USC, Wisconsin, at Iowa

Pretty tough. It’s absolutely ridiculous the Big 10 teams are playing nine conference games while the SEC is only playing eight. But if Nebraska is a great team, they could conceivably get through it with 9-10 wins and make the playoffs. Particularly if they can get the spot I had previously allotted to Iowa.

At some point in that slate, probably by the time the Ohio State game is over, we’ll have a pretty good idea. But what can we tell from what we’ve seen thus far? Is Matt Rhule rebuilding a Husker power that can actually dominate once again?
