Fates are sealed in Week 10
Oklahoma, Texas A&M, LSU, and USC saw their seasons all but sealed with losses on Saturday while the top squads in the country are building toward an exciting finish to the season.
Week 10 proved to be a sort of chalky one in college football. Observable trends were cemented in most of the big games, although some of those went against the spreads.
Texas’ athletic advantages came to bear against K-State, although their inexperienced quarterback play nearly blew it when the Wildcats quickly erased a 27-7 deficit late in the third quarter in one of the more disastrous stretches of football I’ve ever seen. Alabama outscored LSU in an amazing quarterback duel ended when for the second time in two years (Quinn Ewers and Texas in 2022), Tide Edge Dallas Turner made a big hit on the quarterback and took him to the ground, ending the day for that signal-caller.
Some are calling it a dirty hit, I think he knows there’s a potential benefit to taking a player to the ground but I don’t think it’s dirty, just part of the game.
Ole Miss vs Texas A&M went a little differently than I expected with the Aggies getting murdered in the air by Jaxson Dart in a 38-35 loss. Bedlam went almost exactly like I expected with the Cowboys edging out the Sooners and Norman descending into a frothing rage with a predictable target in response.
Finally, Washington barely outscored Caleb Williams and USC, resulting in a public image of Williams weeping into his mother’s arms and the firing of Trojan defensive coordinator Alex Grinch the following day.
USC going into the ditch was pretty obvious, as was Oklahoma coming up short down the stretch again, but there’s a lot of fallout developing for the offseason now at some of the programs falling short and still a few too many contenders for four playoff spots.
