Did Louisville expose Notre Dame?
What did the Cardinals reveal about the 2023 Fighting Irish and are they a real contender in the AAC Championship hunt?
Notre Dame slipped to 5-2 on the season the other week after losing 33-20 at Louisville in what was frankly a blowout.
There were a number of interesting takeaways from the game, but have to pause and wonder if the Irish were beat down so badly in part because they were worn down from playing seven games in seven weeks to start the season. Louisville ran the ball awfully effectively in this game. Starting running back Jawhar Jordan had 21 carries for 143 yards and two touchdowns against a defense that had been pretty stout to this point.
Notre Dame was bullied in the trenches on both sides of the ball from the start, which was certainly unexpected, and didn’t really have much of a chance in this game as a result. Nevertheless, there were a few things to note in the game regarding Notre Dame’s current place under Marcus Freeman and Louisville’s chances under Jeff Brohm.
