Adding math to neanderball

How do we add the high efficiency deep shots to our ponderous, neanderball offense?

We’re starting to get somewhere now.

I’ve reasoned through the following conclusions.

  1. It’s hard to afford a competitive roster in the modern era of college football for all but the richest programs.

  2. A money-ball approach to winning in college football would be one that chases opportunities to hit deep shots, which convey more mathematical value than most teams appreciate.

  3. The best, and cheapest way to create deep shots is with an ostensibly run-centric “neanderball” style of offense that can take shots down the field.

  4. For the neanderball component, we could play with heavy sets in 22/13 personnel or lean more into a Wing-T/Slot-T style with multiple running backs, and avoid a heavy roster price.

Now we need to add the part where you land a bunch of deep shots and chase the mathematical edge. How do we do that and build the neanderball plus math offense? Btw, I’m going to start short-handing this as nball+, like it’s a streaming service.

Anyways, I think the “plus” part is actually relatively simple…
